Dr. King and the Social Gospel

The Social Gospel taught that sin is a societal problem. Liberation Theology says that God’s love is first for the poor and oppressed and places importance on social justice work. Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr influenced and was influenced by both of these movements. As we celebrate Dr. King’s legacy and navigate the inauguration, we will reflect on the liberation and social gospel teachings of Dr. King. We will also sing some of his favorite hymns!
