Introduction to Guitar and Songwriting: 3-sessions 1 hour each: All you need to write a song is a melody in your heart and a few basic chords. We’ll spend our time on guitar basics, learning a few chords and strumming patterns, putting them together in a progression. We can use the progression we’ve learned as an introduction to songwriting. 3 sessions (1 hour each session). 2/2/25, Sunday, 6:30 to 8:30 pm: Groundhog Day Again. Come and watch Groundhog Day together. One of my favorite movies and considered by some to be one of the greatest comedy films ever made, it follows the path of the lead character, played by Bill Murray, as he slowly learns how to navigate from a monotonous life with a focus on his own desires to demonstrating genuine care for others without self-interest and appreciating even the small things in life. 3/8/25, 9 – 11 am: Stagecoach Trail Hike. Come join us as we hike the Stagecoach trail in the Simi Hills of Chatsworth. This is a socially paced hike with some steep areas. 4/26/25,10 am – 3 pm:  The Last Bookstore & Grand Central Market. Who is up for taking mass transit to The Last Bookstore and then having lunch at Grand Central Market? We will carpool to the Universal Metro parking lot, and then take the subway to Pershing Square (bring your TAP card if you have one). From there it is a 7-minute walk to the bookstore, housed in a grand old former bank building. There are even books in the vault, and they have a great selection of used books at great prices. Let’s pick blueberries, raspberries & strawberries at Underwood Family Farms in Somis. Bring your own containers & carpool to make this a sustainable excursion. There is also a farm stand with loads of fresh veggies and fruit, so bring your reusable bags and plan to take home some delicious produce to enjoy. More details to follow when the fair schedule is available but save the dates and we will be in touchlater in the year if you are a winning bidder for this event. 8/30/25, 5:30 – 10 am: Annual Labor Day Weekend Roma Tomato Picking Excursion. Annual Labor Day tomato picking event. Early birds get the best tomatoes and avoid the hot sun in the tomato fields. We will carpool to Underwood Family Farms in Moorpark to pick ripe Roma tomatoes. We can share a case of red bell peppers, too. Bring your own reusable bags, plus they have a farmstand offering lots of fresh fruits and veggies. 10/19/25, 1 – 4 pm:  Apples will be ripe at Rios Rancho in Oak Glen. If you plan to attend the annual church retreat at Camp deBenneville, I will be happy to lead a side trip to Los Rios Rancho in nearby Oak Glen on Sunday afternoon so we can stock up on fresh apples, many of which are heirloom varieties, and all grown without any pesticides. Plus apple pie, BBQ with grilled corn and fresh apple cider! It is an extra 30-minute drive to Oak Glen but worth the trip. Bring your reusable bag in case you want to buy anything from their shop.We will gather on the porch at Camp De Benneville Pines after brunch/lunch and drive to Oak Glen from there. Bid $10.
