The Climate Change arm of JAM (Justice Advocacy Ministry), JustWeb 2017, will meet after church, from 12:00 noon to 1:00 on April 9. Philip Kuretski, Rhonda Plank-Richard and Tracy Watson will co-facilitate. Our inspirational March visitors from the Sierra Club have given us additional ideas for community action, like attending AQMD (Air Quality Management District) meetings to affect policy and influence local gas company operations.

Our group will also be continuing with ideas for the “100 days to Earth Day” actions and planning our participation in the nationwide “March for Science” on Earth Day, April 22, 2017, and the People’s Climate March on April 29, 2017.

We will also be following up on developing our church garden, with reports on the progress of RE kids’ vegetables and guerrilla gardener grapevines on our grounds.

Our focus is two-fold: improving Emerson itself as a more environmentally sound entity, with possibilities like becoming a Green Sanctuary, getting solar panels, and creating the community garden under consideration. We’d also like to serve the wider community by merging with other local groups with similar interests and attending demonstrations, circulating petitions, and visiting legislators. Join us!
